And So It Begins: Day 1

First of all, I wanna take a second to thank my good friend Joseph Becerra for designing the wonderful header you see above this post now.  I think everyone should check him out for any designs they may need at www.jabdesigner.com and check his stuff out.  Now that I did my free, shameless plug for my friend, I wanna point out the relevance of the banner.

The banner is going to work kind of like a stat card for me as I go.  I'm going to put the current class up there.  Considering this is the first class I've taken on Full Sail Online, it's all I got.  I will keep some kind of scoring up there whether it be GPA and GPS and the grade for my last class.  I am making myself accountable to all of you wonderful people reading this blog.

Onto the new work.  Today was the first day of class and it wasn't as terrifying as I thought it would be.  I was able to go to work and do everything I needed to today and be on schedule for the week.  This week shouldn't be too bad, but I have no guarantees that this course is going to stay like this.  I also know for a fact that later on down the line, courses will get more intense and I'll have to make more and more sacrifices in my life just to make this work.  This is one of my biggest passions and I will not let myself fail.  Keep me motivated and encouraged!

Day 0: Orientation and So Much More

This first blog is actually a couple of days late, but it's the first chance I have to do it!  Hey everyone, my name is Jay and I am an incoming student at Full Sail University Online's Digital Cinematography Bachelor of Science degree.  Say that five times fast, haha.  The reason I say this should have been started a few days ago is because I wanted to do it once I had gotten my laptop.  Instead, I decided to do it after I did all the installations and my orientation course.

It ended up taking me just about 7 hours to install all the programs onto the Macbook Pro, the bulk of it was spent on Final Cut Studio.  I started it at 7pm on Friday 2/18/2011 and finished it at 2:20am the next morning.  Needless to say, I decided to pass out soon after.  I did my orientation class on Saturday and enjoyed myself thoroughly, actually being very excited to do something school related which I had put off for so long.  I decided just to take a break on Sunday.

This change in life has been a long time coming and believe me I could not be happier not only to be back in school, but to be pursuing a passion of mine.  The purpose of this blog is to give you a glimpse into the life of an FSO student who is currently working full time and actually has quite a few engagements outside work as well.  Needless to say, I'm aware I will need to make some sacrifices along the way and I am prepared to make them.  I'm inviting everyone who sees this blog to come along on this journey with me.  These are just the first steps and where this tale will end, only God knows.

Also, if you notice from my about me, I am a Christ follower and much of my outside activities involve that.  However, this blog is NOT my attempt to spiritually enlighten anyone, but I do want you if you have any questions to approach me.  I'm a pretty cool and open guy, just try me.  Take care readers!
